Cayman Islands Prepare for Second Annual Jazz Fest

For the country’s second annual jazz festival, the Cayman Islands have culled some of the hemisphere’s top talent, including George Duke, Al Jarreau, Earl Klugh and Ravi Coltrane (pictured).

Set to take place from Dec. 1-3 in Grand Cayman, the Cayman Jazz Fest has partnered with BET Jazz and BET Event Productions for this year’s festival. Featured musicians will also include Najee and Yolanda Adams, along with local Caymanian musicians including jazz group Intrasit, island band Hi Tide, steel band Pandemonium Steelband, husband-and-wife island jazz band SEA n’B and soul singer KayKay. And, better yet, Red Stripe has already signed on as a sponsor. Yay Jamaican beer.

A preview of this year’s festival can be seen throughout the month on BET and BET Jazz. It starts today on BET at 4:30 pm EST, with additional dates on BET Jazz on Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 at noon, 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.; on Oct. 16 and Oct. 30 at 1 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.; and on Nov. 2 and Nov. 16 at noon, 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Festival packages start at $799 per person (based on double occupancy) and are available from Delta Vacations at (877) 668-JAZZ or going to www.deltavacations.com. Festival tickets are available at www.ticketweb.com. And, finally, more information on the festival is available at www.caymanislands.ky/jazzfest.
