Buddy Rich: Stick It

Here is the classic big-band drummer at the helm of an all-utility-player cast. This 1972 date features effective arrangements that reflect the times in various ways, from jazz rock stylings on some tracks to material like “Bein’ Green”, from Sesame Street. The band is tight and the soloists effective if not outstanding. Rich is musically intelligent as well as powerful, and if you enjoy focusing primarily on the drummer, there’s plenty to like here.
