Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has officially proclaimed April 21-29, 2007 to be Jazz Week in Beantown. Jazz Week will be a celebration of jazz throughout the city, encompassing a wide array of performances and educational events. It is scheduled to coincide with the Smithsonian Institution’s national observance of April as Jazz Month, as well as a birthday tribute to Duke Ellington, who was born on April 29, 1899.
Jazz Week Boston will be coordinated by the non-profit organization JazzBoston, with most events produced independently by participating musicians, presenters, clubs and educational institutions. Individuals interested in presenting programming for Jazz Week are encouraged to visit http://www.jazzboston.org, or email [email protected].
