Bobby Rodriguez Releases Telephone Single

You can listen to jazz at home, in your car, at work, and while wandering around on foot, all thanks to the various miracles of modern audio technology. But what if your area suffers a blackout, and you can’t get through another dark hour without sweet sweet jazz? Panda Digital comes to the rescue with the Fonecard Single, which will allow you to listen to jazz tracks over the phone and, as an added bonus, talk to anyone in the United States for thirty minutes afterwards. Hey, you always need a contingency plan.

The first Fonecard Single features trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez (pictured left) doing two versions of the familiar holiday song “Happiest Time of the Year,” with help from vocalists Alan Paul of the Manhattan Transfer and Darlene Koldenhoven of Two + Two. The recording is Rodriguez’s first work since his 1999 album Latin Jazz Explosion, which garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Performance.
