Bobby McFerrin Back With Blue Note

Bobby McFerrin has rejoined the Blue Note roster and will head back to the studio at the end of May to record his first acoustic jazz album in almost a decade. McFerrin has recruited a backing band for the project that includes pianist Chick Corea, drummer Omar Hakim, and Richard Bona on bass. The album will feature standards and McFerrin originals, all arranged by pianist Gil Goldstein.

The new record will be McFerrin’s fourth for Blue Note the last being 1995’s Bang! Zoom. McFerrin’s most recent album was 1997’s Circlesongs (Columbia), an African and Middle Eastern-influenced suite for 12 voices.
