Blue Note Studio Report

A number of Blue Note artists are in the studio working on new albums:

Guitarist Charlie Hunter (pictured left), known for his distinctive 8-string guitar style, is currently in the studio mixing his sixth album for Blue Note. This release will feature a mix of guest vocalists including hip-hop artist Mos Def, Norah Jones, Bilal and Theryl DeClouet (aka Houseman) of Galactic. D’Angelo and Kurt Elling may also make vocal appearances on the album.

Vibraphonist Stefon Harris is currently working on his fourth Blue Note release, a jazz suite entitled “The Grand Unification Theory.” The 11-movement suite was both composed and arranged by Harris for an 11-piece ensemble.

Guitarist Ronny Jordan is busy cranking out the follow-up to his Blue Note debut, A Brighter Day. Jordan says the new release will be funkier than the last but will again feature his unique combination of jazz and contemporary urban sounds.
