Birdland Hosts New School Benefit

On Mon., Dec. 9 the New School University’s Jazz & Contemporary Music Program will present a concert featuring Joe Lovano (pictured), Andrew Cyrille, Reggie Workman and others to benefit the program’s scholarship fund. The concert will take place at Birdland in New York and current New School students will be performing alongside the jazz stars who will also include Jane Ira Bloom, Cecil Bridgewater, Tino Dorado and Jamey Haddad. A group of New School alumni featuring Robert Glasper , Marcus Strickland, Damion Reid among others, will also perform.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., but those who arrive at 6:30 will enjoy a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer as a jazz duet warms up the audience.
