Thirteen Billie Holiday classics will get a 21st-century facelift (take this pause to let your personal emotions on the matter settle). Legacy Recordings announced that Billie Holiday has been chosen for the second installment in their “Remixed & Reimagined” series, which was launched last fall with a disc of Nina Simone reinterpretations.
Artists featured on the collection include Tony Humphries, DJ Logic, Charles Feelgood, Swingsett, Nickodemus, Jazzy Nice, Organica, Fabio Morgera and Lady Day Mecca.
According to the press release: “Had she been born 70 years later, there’s little doubt that this is the kind of soulful sound Billie Holiday would have totally dug.” We’re pretty sure Lady Day would’ve moved on to nu-metal by now.
