Bill Cosby Hosts “A Great Night in Harlem”

The Jazz Foundation of America (JFA) will present “A Great Night in Harlem,” a one-time concert at the Apollo Theater in New York Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. The concert will include many jazz musicians and will benefit the Jazz Musicians’ Emergency Fund. Bill Cosby (pictured left) and Gil Noble will host the event.

Artists expected to jam include: Ron Carter, Chika, George Coleman, Bob Cranshaw, Lou Donaldson, Nnenna Freelon, Frank Foster, Slide Hampton, Billy Hart, Louis Hayes, Roy Haynes, Percy Heath, Ahmad Jamal, Howard Johnson, Etta Jones, Junior Mance, Earl May, Jimmy Owens, Cecil Payne, Irene Reid, Ben Riley, Max Roach, Melvin Sparks, Clark Terry, Cassandra Wilson and Phil Woods.

The Jazz Musicians Emergency Fund, created by JFA, is devoted to keeping down and out jazz musicians on their feet and in good health. The fund helps musicians pay medical bills, rent and provides services for finding jobs.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Monday, August 13 and are available through TicketMaster @ 212-307-7171 and the Apollo Theatre box office @ 212-531-5300. Limited Golden Circle Orchestra seating will be priced at $250 with additional tickets set at $100, $50, and $35.
