Jazz at Lincoln Center will present jazz composer Benny Golson as he premieres his brand new compositions March 1st and 3rd at Alice Tully Hall. These concerts will be presented in two parts. The first half will feature Golson and his band performing songs and arrangements from his brand new CD, One Day, Forever, set to be released in March. The second half of each show will begin with a solo composition, titled On Gossamer Wings, performed by pianist Lara Downes. Golson will follow, conducting an all-star big band through his newly-commissioned work and other, classic compositions. Golson and his big band will also be joined by the Uptown String Quartet each night for a one final number.

For the die-hard fan, Golson will be discussing his extraordinary musical career with Ira Gitler for Jazz Talk: A Conversation with Benny Golson, on February 27th, 2001 at 7pm. The Jazz Talk series, held in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, is a seperate event and ticket prices are $12 ($5 for students with ID).
