Benefit Concert for Conguero Norman Hedman Planned for New York

New York’s Jazz Standard will present a benefit concert hosted by WBGO’s Rob Crocker on Monday, April 14 at 7 and 10 PM. The event honors master conguero and percussionist Norman Hedman, who was recently diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Hedman, who was in rehearsals with Alicia Keys when he learned of he illness, is undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The event is a support effort to defray the considerable medical expenses in his battle against cancer. A silent auction will be held featuring items donated from Alicia Keys, Ty Law, NFL cornerback #24, and more.
