Bay Area to Host Tito Puente Tribute

After a long Thanksgiving of eating, communing with family, and relaxing in the grace of the gifts given to you, there’s only one thing needed to make the holiday complete – Latin jazz superstars. San Francisco-area jazz fans will have the opportunity to complete their holiday in just this way on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, when a concert will be held in honor of Tito Puente (pictured left) to benefit Latin music education.

The lineup is formidable: Dave Valentin, Raul Rekow, Papo Vasquez, Giovanni Hidalgo, Francisco Aguabella, Jimmy Bosch, and Larry Harlow are just a few of the musicians who will be playing. As one might expect, Tito Puente Jr. and the Tito Puente Orchestra will also make appearances to pay homage to their late namesake. To further whet your appetites, “Special Surprise Guests” are also promised.

The whole shebang will go down at 8 p.m. at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on 99 Grove St. in San Francisco. Tickets range from $45 to $100, with the top price getting you into a post-show reception for and with the artists. To purchase tickets, visit tickets.com.
