The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers (ASMAC) announced Herbie Hancock as the winner of the 66th Annual Golden Score Award. The ceremony, which will be held in Santa Monica, Calif. on June 4, will also honor rock, blues and cabaret group Leiber & Stoller with the President’s Award. The Golden Score banquet honors those who have made a significant impact on the music industry. Previous winners include Ray Charles and Natalie Cole.
Proceeds from the award ceremony will benefit ASMAC’s educational programs and fund the “Don Costa, Gordon Jenkins, Nelson Riddle Memorial Scholarship for Musical Excellence in Arranging” and the “Irwin Kostal Memorial Scholarship” for composing.
