Arturo O’Farrill Educates on Latin Jazz with Brief Tour

From years of experience in school and hospital cafeterias we learn to be extra cautious of items on the menu that bear exotic names. Something called “Arroz con Bebop,” (translation: rice with bebop) should raise a red flag immediately. It sounds almost as suspicious as those mysterious meals labeled “Manager’s Choice.”

But the schools, hospitals and community programs that have “Arroz con Bebop” on their schedules have nothing to worry about with regard to lost appetites and vats of leftovers. “Arroz con Bebop,” as the name sort of suggests, is actually an educational program about Latin jazz that will tour the New York City area in mid-March.
