ArtsCONNECT Funds Jazz Artists

The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation announced the funding of 12 tours through their 2001-2002 ArtsCONNECT program. Over $300,000 in grants will be distributed throughout the mid-Atlantic region to support performing artists.

The 12 projects supported this year include a variety of dance, theater and jazz performers including Poncho Sanchez (pictured left), Ray Brown and the Rennie Harris PureMovement (a dance company that performs breakdance, hip-hop, house and jazz steps).

The foundation began its support of the arts in 1979. The organizations participating include colleges and universities, as well as performing arts theaters across the mid-Atlantic region.
