Arkadia Looks Toward the Future of Jazz

Just in case Ken Burns’ Jazz does create a new appreciation and demand for jazz recordings, the Arkadia Jazz label has just put together four unique jazz collections for the jazz novice. These collections aren’t the usual retrospective of jazz’s past Dukes, Counts and Princes.
The Stars of Jazz 1 is the first CD in the collection and features tracks from Billy Taylor, Benny Golson, David Liebman, Pat Metheny, Dave Holland and others who played with the greats and now carry the jazz torch themselves. Part two in the Stars of Jazz collection shows the evolution of the jazz standard with tracks from Benny Golson with Nat Adderley, Gary Bartz, Michael Brecker, Lew Tabackin, Joanne Brackeen, Bob Mintzer, Django Reinhardt and others.

The New Young Lions of Jazz showcases tracks from the legends of the future: James

Carter, Stefon Harris, Chris Potter, Eric Reed, Kurt Elling and Ravi Coltrane. The final installment in Arkadia’s new collection series is an album of love tunes called It’s About Love.
