Let it be known: 2007 was Anat Cohen’s breakthrough year. After glowing reviews, awards, exciting new bands and high-profile performances, she returns to NYC’s Jazz Standard for a six-night run beginning Oct. 30.
Cohen, who plays with more than a dozen groups in New York City, is known for her wide-ranging stylistic breadth and was named “Clarinetist of the Year” and “Up and Coming Musician of the Year” by the Jazz Journalists Association earlier in 2007, will perform with four different groups during her stay from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4 at Jazz Standard. Special guests will include percussionist Duduka da Fonseca, who will perform with Cohen’s Brazilian Jazz Quartet and saxophonist Joel Frahm, who will perform with Cohen and the Anzic Orchestra. Cohen’s brothers, Yuval and Avishai, will also perform with her as a preview to Braid, their sophomore release as 3 Cohens.
