Charlie Haden: Rambling Boy, a feature-length documentary film focusing on the making of the jazz bassist’s recent Grammy-nominated country album Rambling Boy-Family & Friends, will make its U.S. premiere at REDCAT in downtown Los Angeles on February 12, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. Haden and director Reto Caduff will appear in person.
The documentary, from the award-winning Swiss-born filmmaker Reto Caduff, is a chronicle of Haden’s life and work as instrumentalist, composer, bandleader, educator and founder of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) Jazz Program, political activist and family man.
The album’s songs hearken back to Haden’s early days playing Americana and bluegrass on his parents’ radio show.
