After taking a year to solidify its mission and membership, Jazz Alliance International (JAI) assembled its prestigious board of directors at the offices of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York earlier this month. JAI is a not-for-profit, charitable organization designed to raise jazz awareness in America. The group is comprised of artists, record companies, managers, agents, publicists, attorneys, presenters, broadcasters, writers, publishers, educators, retailers and trade specialists and wants to do for jazz what the Country Music Association has done for country music in the past 40 years.
JAI’s first initiative will be a focused audience survey. Subsequent Board meetings are scheduled for June (New York) and October (San Francisco).
