Columbia, Missouri’s “We Always Swing” jazz series has an interesting night on its spring schedule. “A Night of Jazz & Baseball” unites former major leaguers and jazz musicians for its gala evening and auction. On April 28, filmmaker Ken Burns, author Gerald Early, and sports announcer Bob Costas (pictured left) will be joined by former ballplayers Don Newcombe, Orlando Cepeda, Tommy Davis, and Carmen Fanzone to celebrate syncopation and extra innings.
The National Pastime Productions All-Stars – directed by pianist James Williams and featuring bassist Christian McBride, trombonist Conrad Herwig, and vocalist Sue Raney — will be the musical entertainment for the evening at the Holiday Inn Expo Center in Columbia.
