1st Playboy Jazz Cruise to Set Sail Next January

The relationship between Playboy and jazz goes back to the Hugh Hefner-hosted Playboy After Dark series, which aired from 1969 to 1970. Then there’s the Playboy Jazz Festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last month. Now, Playboy adds cruises to its jazz side with the inaugural Playboy Jazz Cruise, setting sail on Jan. 25, 2009.

Herbie Hancock, Dianne Reeves and Keb’ Mo’ are among several of the artists scheduled to perform, with Marcus Miller (pictured) serving as cruise host. The rest of the lineup features Poncho Sanchez, James Moody, Roy Hargrove, James Carter, Eldar, Roberta Gambarini, New Birth Brass Band and comedian Alonzo Bodden.
