John Coltrane Jazz and Blues Festival Coming to North Carolina
Al Jarreau, Dave Koz, Mindi Abair and others to play Trane’s hometown
The Third Annual John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues Festival will take place Aug. 31, in High Point, N.C., the town where Coltrane lived as a child. The festival, which will run from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Oak Hollow Park, 1841 Eastchester Drive, will include music from Al Jarreau, Christian Scott, Mindi Abair, Dave Koz, Gerald Albright, Richard Elliot, Pat Wilder, Ironing Board Sam and Major Handy. The festival is presented by Friends of John Coltrane, Inc., a High Point-based arts organization.
