Creative Differences Jazz Series at Baltimore’s Windup Space
Mary Halvorson, Barry Altschul and Han Bennink on consecutive weekends in January
Baltimore-based Creative Differences has three excellent shows planned for its home base, the Windup Space, in January. Among the gigs: a 70th Birthday Celebration for drummer Barry Altschul, featuring the terrific New York-based saxophonist Jon Irabagon; and a performance by the Whammies, a Steve Lacy repertory group of sorts featuring Dutch drum great Han Bennink. Check out Lloyd Sachs' recent review of the Whammies' Driff label CD.
