Megon McDonough: My One and Only Love

Megon McDonough’s pretty voice delivers love songs super-simply, devoid of over-embellishment. She’s most pleasant singing in the lower vocal range on “You Taught My Heart to Sing” and “My One and Only Love.” A member of the Bitchin’ Babes, she has a knack for novelty songs like “When I Take My Sugar to Tea” and “I Like You, You’re Nice.” But her takes are a bit too sweet for my taste on the rich legacies of the Gershwins’ “Embraceable You” and Van Heusen-Burke’s “Here’s That Rainy Day.”
