A panel discussion will take place next Thursday, March 14, during the annual SXSW music conference in Austin, Tex., on the subject of a new release documenting Miles Davis’ so-called “lost quintet” or “third great quintet.” The Columbia/Legacy release, Live In Europe 1969, Bootleg, Vol. 2, documents live recordings made by trumpeter Davis, saxophonist Wayne Shorter, keyboardist Chick Corea, bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette, a band previously thought to have left no aural evidence behind (they group never recorded in a studio together).

The panel will be moderated by author/educator/journalist Ashley Kahn, who will be joined by Nell Mulderry (owner, Boss Sounds; Sony/Legacy product manager), Meghan Stabile (Revive Music Group), Vince Wilburn Jr. (Miles Davis Properties, LLC), Bootie Brown and Imani (The Pharcyde).

The panel discussion will take place at the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Caesar Chavez St., Room 15, on Thursday, March 14, from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
