Sonny Rollins appeared earlier this week a book-signing event at the Barnes & Noble store in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City. Four days after his epic performance at the Beacon Theatre, Rollins talked with fans and signed copies of the book Saxophone Colossus: A Portrait of Sonny Rollins, that is excerpted in the October issue of JT. The authors of that book, longtime JazzTimes contributors John Abbott and Bob Blumenthal, gave a presentation and signed copies. They sold over 200 copies of the book that night. Among the jazz notables paying their respects were Joe Lovano, Jimmy Heath and Butch Morris. The photos on this page were taken by Norm Harris, Lena Adasheva and Jim Levine.
