KJAZ Receives Wattage Increase

On June 1, the FCC granted Los Angeles, Calif. radio station KJAZ 1260am an increase in power to 25,000 watts. KJAZ is currently the only 24-hour commercial jazz radio station in America and the increase in power will make it one of the most competitive broadcast facilities in the country. A new digital stereo transmitter is under construction for the station and should be in full service before the end of 2001. KJAZ’s signal will be quadrupled as a result, making it available to both Los Angeles County and Orange County.
