Vocalist Gregory Porter, whose most recent release is Be Good (Motema), will launch a13-city U.S. tour on Aug. 19 at Newark. N.J.’s Bethany Baptist Church. Porter will then head north for shows in Boston and Martha’s Vineyard, before concluding the first leg of the tour on August 26 at Manhattan’s Tompkins Square Park (as part of the Charlie Parker Festival). At the end of August, Porter will return to The Netherlands for four shows, before setting out on the rest of his American tour, which will bring him across the country throughout September.
Porter will kick off the second leg of the tour at the Howard Theater in Washington, D.C., and then continue in Atlanta, Memphis, Oakland, Sacramento, Monterey (at the Monterey Jazz Festival) and Los Angeles, finally ending up back in New York for a week at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola (November 8-11) and a November 17 show at Littlefield in Brooklyn.
