To celebrate its 20 anniversary, the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival in New York City is adding an additional day of music this summer. Performances will take place Aug. 24-26 in Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem.

The first night will feature the world premiere of Bird with Strings, with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and special guests. The program is curated by the musicians at Revive Music Group and composer/arranger Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and celebrates the classic album, Charlie Parker with Strings. According to a press release from the City Parks Foundation, the music will be “re-imagined in a modern context by combining the art of sampling, remixing and inventive compositions and arrangements for a full string section with ensemble.” The concert begins at 7 p.m.

On the 25th, the festival will present Roy Haynes and Rene Marie’s “Experiment in Truth,” Derrick Hodge and ERIMAJ, at 3 p.m.

On August 26, the program will be the Ernestine Anderson Quartet, Gregory Porter, Andy Milne & Dapp Theory, and Sullivan Fortner. This show is also at 3 p.,.
