| Description | (SIM) Summer 2013 SIM Intensive at NYU July 15 to July 26, 2013 SIM in collaboration with New York University is proud to announce it’s 2nd summer Intensive workshop at NYU. The session will take place in NYU’s state of the art jazz facilities located in the heart of Greenwich Village. Similar to this past year, SIM students will have the choice of adding a housing and meal plan. Housing Dates: Check-In: July 14, Check-Out: July 27 Housing and Meal Plan Fees: $695 per week (includes ten meals and $25 declining food dollars per week) (2013 rates TBA) Program Overview: The School for Improvisational Music (SIM) is the instructional facet of the Center for Improvisational Music (CIM) for aspiring students of jazz and creative music. Since 2001, SIM has held 20 intensive workshop sessions for 800 students from all over the globe. The session includes 2 masterclasses per day, ensemble coaching, a performance and 2 private lessons per week. SIM workshops are open to individuals aged 18 and older but exceptions will be made on occasion. Content: The SIM experience encompasses ample playing opportunities and discussion of improvisational concepts. SIM is less about teaching through the lens of style and more about the overarching concepts of improvisation, touching on multiple disciplines. That said, students are offered two private lessons per week with our faculty, allowing personal instruction on any musical topic. |
