Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival
Aug 29 - Aug 30, 2014
In 2010, the North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam gained a younger sister: Curacao North Sea Jazz. Good music combined with the tropical atmosphere on the island makes the formula a huge success. This Summer, it’s time for the fifth edition.
The biggest annual event on the island is taking place on Friday August 29 and Saturday August 30. The first names for the 2014 edition have been announced. Saturday, Juan Luis Guerra will open the evening on the Sam Cooke stage. Bruno Mars will take the same stage to close the evening. The organization is still busy with various other artists who will be announced in the course of the coming months.
On Thursday, August 28, 2014, the complete Dutch Metropole Orchestra will pay tribute to Curacao artist DOBLE-R (Rignald Recordino) on the Sam Cooke stage right at the CNSJ Festival site. Featuring: Ompi Stefania, Gibi Doran, Giovanka, Izaline Calister, Karin Bloemen, and more.
Just like in previous years, Curacao North Sea Jazz will take place at the World Trade Center near Piscadera Bay. Ever since the first edition in 2010, audiences have been able to enjoy a string of performances by well-known artists. Lionel Richie, George Benson, John Legend, Simply Red, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Rubén Blades, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Alicia Keys, Maná, Caro Emerald, Waylon, Sergio George’s All Star Salsa Friends, Prince… They are just a taste of the huge amount of performers filling the different stages.
