Mar 22, 2013 08:00 PM

On the heals of his sold out concert at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, saxophonist and forward thinker Charles Lloyd celebrates his 75th birthday in style March 22 at the Kennedy Center with pianist Jason Moran, Indian tabla master Zakir Hussain, bassist Reuben Rogers, Greek lyrist Sokratis Sinopoulos, drummer Eric Harland, vocalist Alicia Hall Moran and the legendary Greek vocalist Maria Farantouri.

Lloyd has played with masters throughout his career, including B.B King, Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette, The Beach Boys, and more. Nearly 50 years after his first release as band leader, he is still making critically acclaimed records and is beloved by mainstream listeners and jazz die-hards alike.
