About Lillie Bryant - Howard
In the late fifties, Lillie Bryant, one half of the million-seller Swan Records recording duo Billy & Lillie. The duo recorded hits such as Lucky Lady Bug, La Dee Dah, and Happiness. As a solo vocal artist, Lillie recorded Good Morning Baby, Smokey Gray Eyes, the Gambler, and more, during her tenure on Dick Clark's Swan Records label Billy any Lillie went on to record 25 to 30 recordings through the late 50’s into the 60’s. With performances at the world famous Apollo Theater with Mickey & Sylvia, and multiple appearances on Dick Clark's American Bandstand to her credit, she toured with the Allan Freed Rock & Roll Show with Chuck Berry, Big Bopper, Chantels and Frankie Lymon. Lillie has also shared the stage with Jackie Wilson, and Sam Cooke. Her other TV appearances have included Patty Page's Big Record and The Joe Franklin Show. In more recent years, she has performed with organist Jimmy McGriff, alto saxophonist Eddie Pazant, pianist James Wideman, bassist artisan Christopher Dean Sullivan, drummer Bernard Purdie and jazz pianist Dorthy Donegan.
Recently Lillie Bryant~Howard was a featured principle, along with jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan, in the off Broadway production of "The Beatnik Café." TMO Entertainment Artist, Lillie Bryant~Howard’s first major recording since 1960, Stepping Through The Center (WÜJa Promotions) is presently in the works. It features jazz standards close to her heart as well as a bonus track remake of La Dee Dah, the song that placed her on the Top 10 charts in 1958 and 1959. Lillie is also in the process of working on her book "Lucky Ladybug" which is her life's story.
In early 2012 Lillie Bryant ~ Howard became an artist on the TMO Entertainment Roster.
Lillie has been doing this Tribute to Dinah Washington since the fall of 2009, and performing this tribute throughout upstate NY, Boston, and Pennsylvania in theaters and private affairs.
Kitano’s will be the NYC Jazz Club debut of this Tribute to Dinah Washington. You are urged to come and witness Lillie bring the tradition of Dinah to fruition. Joining Lillie will be Bassist Christopher Dean Sullivan, Pianist Joe Vincent Tranchina and Drummer Bobby Sanabria.
