After being introduced on the early 90's New York City and International creative Jazz scene as a member of Guillermo Klein's critically lauded modern large ensemble at Smalls Jazz Club, by way of studies with legendary icons of American Music Jimmy Giuffre, Joe Maneri and Paul Bley. And serving as a member of a traditional big band on tour in Europe for three years. For the past decade, acclaimed jazz guitar virtuoso and composer Sten Hostfalt has established himself as a prolific NYC based bandleader and released seven albums in his own name, all from initially staging a string of solo concerts. Notably as heard on his independently released solo live concert albums 29 Pieces For The Microtonal Guitar Live At Knitting Factory New York ( Sonus Rex / 2002 ) and Macroscope ( Sonus Rex / 2006). As well as at leading colleges and universities in the USA and elsewhere as an invited guest lecturer and clinican on the interpretation and application of microtonal music on the standard 6 string/12 fret guitar. Arguably one of the most innovative players on the world's most played, most popular instrument. Here performing live at one of New York City's true landmarks of independent art and music ABC No Rio / C.O.M.A's mostly solos events, in a shared event with a number of other improvising downtown NY musicians.
