Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Roy Haynes has dominated the jazz scene for seven decades, appearing with everyone from Miles Davis and Charlie Parker to his newly formed, Grammy® nominated Fountain of Youth Band that includes some of today’s most dynamic and virtuosic musicians. Three time Grammy® award winner Dee Dee Bridgewater and Grammy® nominee Gretchen Parlato are the hottest singers on today’s scene, whose sets will highlight the different trends in jazz singing. Come and go as you please through the five sets on this all-day jazz fest, and soak in the sounds from our beautiful grounds. Tickets: $15, $35, $45. Location: Venetian Theater.
Sunday, July 29, 4pm-6pm - Pat Metheny Unity Band with Chris Potter, Antonio Sanchez and Ben Williams
18 time Grammy® Award winner Pat Metheny is one of the most influential and creative guitarists on the planet. Throughout his career, Metheny’s versatility has lead him to perform with artists as diverse as Steve Reich, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, and David Bowie, among many others. Now he has teamed up with an all star group: bassist Ben Williams who recently won the Monk Competition, Grammy® nominated saxophonist Chris Potter, and long time collaborator and drummer Antonio Sanchez. Béla Fleck, considered the premier banjo player in the world, brought his Africa Project to Caramoor in 2009. The genre-busting Fleck, winner of 14 Grammy Awards ®, has been nominated in more different categories than anyone in Grammy® history. Hear Béla’s latest project as he reveals the jazz side of his multiple musical personalities in brilliant collaboration with the Marcus Roberts Trio, led by Roberts on piano, with Jason Marsalis on drums and Rodney Jordan on bass, and known around the world for their signature, virtuosic trio style. The Trio reciprocates by visiting Béla’s more traditional musical geography. Tickets: $15, $20, $37.50, $52.50. Location: Venetian Theater
