Joel Harrison Large Ensemble

Brooklyn, NY: Roulette presents two evenings of ensembles December 6 & 8 at 8pm. December 6, Joel Harrison will present his large ensemble featuring new works for 19 musicians featuring Ned Rothenberg, Ohad Talmor, Ben Kono, Rob Scheps, Andy Laster, Michel Gentile, Shane Endsley, Jeff Hermanson, Taylor Haskins, Sam Hoyt , Jacob Garchik, Matt Macdonald, Alan Ferber, Jose Davila ,Joel Harrison, Daniel Kelly, Kermit Driscoll, James Shipp, Rob Garcia, JC Sanford. The pieces, A Meet the Composer Commission entitled "Infinite Possibility" feature 5 new pieces, jazz-based but ranging far and wide in influence. One piece is a deconstruction of Sonny Stitt's "Eternal Triangle", another inspired by "the birthplace of the Blues”- Dockery Farms, while another is inspired by Ligeti's Chamber Concerto, and late 60's Miles. A fourth is based on the Appalachian hymn "I Have Seen the Rock of Ages."
