“The piano is a divinely inspired instrument, a mirror held up to its player's soul that captures the light and shadow of the performer and reflects them back to the listener." --David Lanz
The David Lanz Winter Solstice concert has become a Seattle tradition. This year at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, in addition to his popular holiday arrangements and the Lanz classics, David and his group will give you a world premiere of his latest recording, Here Comes The Sun, a follow up to his release . In concert, David Lanz (pronounced LAH-NZ), effortlessly blends his emotionally affecting music (“a gift to the soul” wrote one reviewer) with audience involvement and his own charming comic-take on life.
The focus on Liverpool Re-Imagining the Beatles was placed solely on arrangements from the John Lennon and Paul McCartney songbook. However, now on Here Comes The Sun, the spotlight has been widened to include the other great Beatle songwriter, George Harrison. David Lanz’s approach with this album was decidedly more classical in nature, taking ample liberties with the arrangements, and again featuring the musical talents of flutist Gary Stroutsos, cellist Walter Gray, and bassist Keith Lowe.
David Lanz has enthralled music lovers around the world for decades with his engaging playing style and original compositions. Lanz, who was nominated for a Grammy in 2000, is well known as a top instrumental recording and concert artist, reaching worldwide prominence with his number one Billboard hit, Cristofori’s Dream. His unique impressionistic style is emulated by countless pianists, and his compositions and arrangements are performed and studied around the world.
