Amanda King debuts "Forgotten Women, Lost Songs" at The Metropolitan Room
Oct 08, 2010 11:00 PM - 11:59 PM
Making her debut at The Metropolitan Room with this show, Amanda King is a classic chanteuse who performs little known gems from the 1930’s and 40’s as well as standards from The Great American Songbook. Possessing a smoothness of voice, surety of style and ease with her audience that is often compared to the great singers of yesteryear, she has been hailed in the San Francisco Sentinel as “the right voice for the very best in American songwriting”. And she swings!
For this show “Forgotten Women, Lost Songs”, Amanda has delved into the lives of three incredible women whose brilliant careers have been overlooked since their heyday years ago. Wonderful music from Mildred Bailey, Blanche Calloway and Bea Wain as well as sumptuous songs rarely heard since their debut decades ago, make this a show not to be missed.
Tickets: $20/$15 for MAC members www.metropolitanroom.com
