David Amram's 80th Birthday Celebration

Jazz at the Lake, which is produced by the Lake George Arts Project will kick off with an 80th birthday celebration for David Amram.

The evening begins at the Shoreline Restaurant in Lake George, followed by a three hour cruise on the Adirondac with the David Amram Quartet, hosted by Star 101.3 FM Radio. Tickets for the cruise will cost $25 and may be purchased by calling 518-899-3000.

The program, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6 pm with Arts Project Executive Director John Strong and Festival Curator Paul Pines introducing testimonials from Tom Lloyd of The Lake George Opera and Charles Peltz of the Glens Falls Symphony. The evening will also debut a special eight-minute screening of the Finale from Amram’s comic opera “12th Night”, excerpted from filmmaker Larry Kraman's new documentary feature "David Amram: The First 80 Years”.

The program concludes with a birthday cake and a few words by Mr. Amram.

The Celebration will continue for ticket holders aboard the Adirondac, with light fare and music by the David Amram Quartet. The cruise departs the Shoreline dock at 7:30, and returns at 10:30.
