Southport Records presents an ongoing series of events at Katerina’s on the first Saturday of every month! Label partners Bradley Parker-Sparrow, piano and Joanie Pallatto, voice will open each evening with their original duets and improvisations. The early evening sets will present a revolving mix of artists from the label roster, featuring jazz, avant garde, classical and new music.
This CD Celebration with Chicago’s tenor great Fred Anderson will feature one of his long- time collaborators, bassist Tatsu Aoki.
“Black Horn Long Gone” was recorded at Sparrow Sound Design Recording Studio, Chicago, Illinois – January 1993 – A Direct-to Digital Recording. This notable recording features both the late Malachi Favors Maghostut on acoustic bass, and Ajaramu on drums.
Fred Anderson is a Chicago original. His tenor saxophone sounds like a mighty warrior – the sound clear, focused and strong. His recorded output is continually evolving. Anderson notes that he has always felt that this recording is important for his discography.
