Introduced on the international Jazz scene through a decade as an apprentice in traditional and modern/latin Jazz orchestras led by Herb Pomeroy, Phil Wilson, George Russell and Guillermo Kein. And during the past 6 years recognized for his microtonal work in a multitude of genres and styles, deemed 'groundbreaking' by Jazz Review's Don Williamson, 'Impressive' by TIME OUT NY's Hank Shteamer and 'virtuosic' by the late visionary musical innovator and mentor Joe Maneri. Guitarist, composer and bandleader Sten Hostfalt's original lineups has ever since the early 90's actively supported by legendary icons and pioneers of modern music Jimmy Giuffre and Paul Bley, featured some of the most talented and innovative players in Jazz/improvised music of our time. And now 20 years since first appearing as a U.S. East Coast bandleader, continuously inspired by a fresh, new incredibly talented generation, here represented by two of the current improvised scene's most active and innovative players, drummer Dave Miller and bassist Shayna Dulberger, still in their early-mid 20s and already strong, truly original contributing voices in today's music.
