Jan 16, 2010 05:30 PM - 09:00 PM
Celebrate the historic 1930's pairing of jazz legends Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in this sensational concert guaranteed to sell out, with a unique, all-star double billing. Returning to the Kennedy Center are magnificent guitarist Dorado Schmitt and artists from the Django Reinhardt Festival, who open the concert with their authentic Gypsy swing, marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Reinhardt. The second half marks the 102nd anniversary of the birth of violinist Stephane Grappelli with the Grammy®-winning, multi-genre violinist who studied under him, Mark O'Connor, performing with his band Hot Swing. The concert closes with a rousing finale featuring both groups recreating the 1930's heyday of Reinhardt and Grappelli's Quintet of the Hot Club of France.
There will be two performances given on the evening of Jan. 16th at 5:30 and 9:30. Tickets go on sale Oct. 7, 2009 to the public. Complete concert information is available at The Kennedy Center website.
