What excellent company! Lee Konitz alone would be reason enough to see this line-up; didn't he play on the legendary Miles Davis record Birth of the Cool? He still isn't willing to rest on his laurels and is always looking for new openings. In the mean time, pianist Brad Mehldau has grown into a true style icon due to the heights he reached with The Art of the Trio. Veteran Charlie Haden can also rightly be called a legend. The bassist can boast a revolutionary past - with his Liberation Music Orchestra - and has certainly not done away with it. He also made a number of records with Ornette Coleman, one of the founders of free jazz. Last year, Haden released a country album to pay homage to his childhood. Jorge Rossy completes the quartet; he used to drum in Brad Mehldau's band and was a partner in their cooperation, based on a lot of intuition.
