Contemporary American and Norwegian jazz artists come into focus during the critically acclaimed 2010 Alaska Airlines/ Horizon Air Portland Jazz Festival presented by U.S. Bank, throughout downtown Portland, Oregon. This year’s provocative theme, IS JAZZ DEAD (or did it move to a new address)? - New Music from Norway recognizes Norway as a forefront of redefining America’s indigenous art form. This spotlight showcases three North American premieres, that exemplify what is called the “Nordic Tone”, as a counterpoint to contemporary American jazz masters who push the boundaries of jazz. Headliners include Pharoah Sanders, Dave Holland, Trygve Seim & Frode Haltli, Dave Douglas, Christian Wallumrød, Luciana Souza, and more.
