Vocalist, Music Educator, Show Producer, Arranger and Conductor: Master Artist/Teacher of Jazz Guitar, Hawaiian Steel Guitar and Ukulele. Own school of music, Hawaiian Music Institute and Rainbow Records. One of Maui’s Commissioners for Culture and Arts.
At home in both worlds, Hawaiian and Jazz, Henry has excelled in both, as the top Jazz Guitarist in Hawaii, he was known as a “Jazzer” from an early age, in the Golden Era” with world renown pianist, Mr. Rene Paulo both in LA and Hawaii.! Featured with Jazz Great, Mr. George Benson. Henry’s Jazz background began in L.A. in the 50?s with the likes of Joe Paz, Wes Montgomery, Martin Denny and “Exotica”, Quite Village fame to name a few. His talents extended to Las Vegas and the “Greek Theater” in L.A. arranging and producing a 56 piece orchestra opening for the Don Ho Show.
As a Music educator, he performed in 2004 at the Peabody Institute of Jazz at John Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland with the Jazz musicians from the University.
Produced many “Celebrity” Concerts in Hawaii and Showrooms here and mainland with Jazz Greats. Traveled the world with his own shows and music!
Japan Jazz tour with Mon Productions in 2005 coined Henry with his trademark: “Tropical Swing with A Touch Of Cool Jazz”! He played the famous Osaka Jazz Club, “The Bottom Line,” with the sister club in New York City.
Henry has had his own music festivals in Ka'anapali, Maui, where he combines the “Best of both World's in his “4th. Annual Henry Kaleialoha Allen Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival”. Seldom seen out, he is only seen in Festivals and Concert settings!
Henry has 10 CD'S, out, along with three music books published and recognized by the State of Hawaii, and on April 3rd. 2009 as “One of Hawaii’s Living Treasures of Hawaiian Music” and Jazz! He had his 80th. special Recognition from our Governor in a special concert at the Turtle Bay Resort with Jazz Trumpet great Luis Gasca flying in special to play with Henry for this very special event, backed by the Honolulu Jazz Quartet.
Henry is currently an Hawaiian Ambassador on Holland America Cruise Lines where he does Cultural Presentations and Concerts with the Ships Bands.
