Bush, a New York resident and a graduate of Columbia University’s Jazz Studies program, has appeared several times at Birdland’s Jazz Party. The upcoming Blue Note appearance will be her first there. In addition, she gigs regularly at, among other places, Core Club, Lambs Club, La Petite Abeille, Jules Bistro, Apotheke, Eventi, Anyway Café, and many more swank spots and jazz joints.
She has kept a foot rooted in the music scene of her native Los Angeles with several sold out Catalina Jazz shows, and many Vitello’s performances to her credit. She cites her main influences as Nina Simone Blossom Dearie and Ahmad Jamal, yet her eclectic musical interests include not only jazz and an unabashed commitment to classic American Songbook, but musical projects much further afield. They include active writing and recording projects with L.A. based Hip Hop ensemble, Maya Angeles (formerly Welcome to the Ice Age), as well as electronic duo Blue Green Grey. Maya Angeles released a digital single in January 2013 (Mansionz).
