Alfonzo Blackwell was born in Brooklyn, NY. The native New Yorker grew up in the borough of Queens, a hot-bed residence for many Jazz Giants in our esteemed musical history. He learned to play the piano by ear at the tender age of six. Later, he picked up the saxophone at age eleven and never put it down. He continued his music education at Queens College Aaron Copeland School of Music and Five Towns Music College in Long Island, NY. After college, he landed a residency at a popular jazz/R&B hot spot which propelled him to sign his first record deal. His debut was in 1995 with the release of "Let's Imagine" and he has garnered several top 10 radio hit singles to his credit over the span of his sixteen year recording career thus far.
