Dan Kassell is member of the:
Jazz Journalists Association, The Duke Ellington Society, The Institute of Jazz Studies-Rutgers Roundtable. In addition to contributing Live Performance, News and Book Reviews to AllAboutJazz.com (2003) and JazzReview.com (2006) he shoots archival digital video footage for Watch Jazz Happen.
He's promoted the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band's documentary film “The Last of the First” shown at the 2004 Tribeca Film Fest; Initiated the 100th birthday Celebration for guitarist Lawrence “Larry” Lucie at Local 802 supported by the Jazz Foundation of America. Publicized the opening of Minton's Playhouse (then acted as impromptu MC), Copeland's, Creole, The Harlem Jazz and Gospel Getaway and can be found out and about around town at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem or shooting “Watch Jazz Happen” archival digital video footage as an Independent Producer.
