About Joe Mayer

Started playing guitar in 1960, inspired by jazz, country jazz, rock, blues. Studied guitar in college but never finished a degree because of a neglicence accident that caused years of bad health. Am very grateful to have met so many of my music idols and players that I have looked up to and admired. I am also very grateful to have studied with Vincent Bredice for the few years I was able to. He was a true inspiration in guitar and music theory and a mentor I will never forget. I wanted to play jazz for a living and love to play and admire everyone who has been successful in jazz. Luis Armstrong was one of my favorite players along with Wes, not many people could play lines and phrases like them. They could take you to another dimension and fire up your creative spirit.
