Jazz music has been part of Bruce Pulver's life since his father and drummer Art Pulver would take him to the Easy Riders Jazz Band rehearsals in the late 1960's. It was at this early age that Pulver first heard a driving rhythm section behind a front line of horn players improvising and interacting together. Pulver's musical journey twisted and turned though his school and college years. At Florida State University, in the early 1980's, he studied both Music (Percussion) and Business. Pulver has developed unique outlets keeping him deeply involved in the music. In addition to playing the drums as often as possible, his projects include writing Liner Notes, writing for Jazz publications of articles covering venue reviews, CD reviews and artist interviews Additionally, Pulver has appreared on jazz radio programs as "Critic's Choice" guest. Stops have included WDNA 88.9 Serious Jazz Miami and WRFG Radio 89.3 Atlanta and JazzTones internet radio Podcast hosted by the Dunwoody (GA) Jazz Society. Pulver enyoys finding emerging artists whose work is innovative yet not widely known. For over three years, Pulver has been producing and promoting live concerts in an "in-home" setting. This "Performance in the Home" series unites jazz artists with a live audience to create an intimate, upclose experience for both artist and guests. Most recently, Pulver has joined the Arts Alliance Board for his children's school, where he is Artist Concert Chair.
